Alcan 200 International Snowmachine Race -

Gold Medal Basketball Tournament -
March 25 to March 31. Teams from throughout southeast Alaska meet in Juneau for a tournament that provides fierce competition as well as social opportunities for the people of Southeast. For information call 789-7077.

32nd Annual Alaska Folk Festival -
April 9 to April 15. The Alaska Folk Festival held in Juneau is the largest gathering of musicians from around Alaska (and the Yukon!). Don't miss these exciting, fun-filled days of performances, classes, and more. For information call 463-3316.

Icy Strait Point -
Icy Strait Point offers Alaska tourists a chance to gain first-hand knowledge of Alaska Natives and their rich culture and history. The tourism destination, located in Hoonah, is a renovated cannery operation that once was the leading producer of canned salmon in Alaska. Visitors will take in an abundance of breathtaking natural beauty and a host of shore and wildlife excursions. Icy Strait has been added to the itineraries of Royal Celebrity tour ships. This season, starting in May, the cruise line will make 33 port calls to deliver thousands of passengers. Once completed and fully operational, Icy Strait Point will employ up to 600 people. Golf at Mt. Fairweather -
For those interested in more relaxing activities, try a few holes at the world-class golf course in Gustavus.  Surrounded by snowcapped mountains ON ALL SIDES, with several holes bordering Icy Straits, it can truly classify as one of the world's most magnificent courses.  It's not unlikely that you may get a glimpse of some of Southeast Alaska's wildlife while golfing on this course.  http://www.gustavus.com/activities/golf.html

Bear Watching -
Admiralty Island has one of the highest populations of bears in Alaska. An estimated 1500 to 1700 bears live there. They enjoy a good life on the island, roaming the drainage areas for sedges, roots and berries much of the year but feasting on salmon in August before settling into dens on the upper slopes to sleep away most of the winter. When in Angoon, check with local residents; however, before stting out to look for bears, it is important that you are safe and know just where you can view these beautiful creatures from a safe and secure vantage point.

Haines Bald Eagle Festival -

White Pass Railway -
Built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush, this narrow gauge railroad is an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
