Early History:
Excursion Inlet was originally a cannery, but during World War II Excursion was used as a prisoner-of-war camp and a base for the Aleutian Campaign.
Fishing camp built in 1908 still runs today from June thru mid September. They process mostly pink and chum salmon as well as salmon roe, salmon caviar, halibut and sablefish. Ocean Beauty Seafoods has owned the cannery since 2003.
