Tour Options and Descriptions
Glacier Bay Tour
Experience the grandeur of Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, one of America’s premier natural wilderness areas. The scenery of the park encompasses 3.3 million acres and is part of the largest international protected area in the world. Prepare to be amazed by the expansive glaciers, waterfalls, beautiful forests - and possibly - a sighting of majestic humpback whales.
During your flight, you’ll learn about the history of Glacier Bay National Park, the ancestral homeland of the Huna Tlingit. While over the entrance to the park, your pilot will explain how the massive glaciers reached this point before beginning their rapid retreat 250 years ago.
You will also see how the earth recovered from an Ice Age to become a rich forested landscape, and learn how the de-glaciated terrain developed into the lush rain forests of spruce and hemlock that now line the shores here.
Haines (Lynn Canal) Tour
With the “pilot’s choice” tour you will enjoy the scenery surrounding the town of Haines, nestled between the Chilkat and Chilkoot mountain ranges where the Chilkat River estuary empties into the Lynn Canal. You will see cascading waterfalls, hanging glaciers, and dramatic mountain peaks. 55-65 minutes flight time.
Juneau High Tour
You will start this tour with a trip over the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge. As the tour progresses, you will have many opportunities to take aerial photos of the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, the most famous glacier in Juneau. The Mendenhall is 12 miles long, and is one of 38 named glaciers that originate from the Juneau Ice Field. You'll get fantastic views of Fritz Cove, Auk Bay, and Admiralty Island. An amazing way to view the Mendenhall Glacier and the Juneau area, this tour is not one you'll soon forget.
